The Associate of Applied Science in Allied Health prepares students for allied health careers. The four following degree options consist of a block of general education requirements and selected allied health professional curriculum credits. The Histotechnology and Sleep Technology options are offered through a partnership with Baptist Health College Little Rock. The Radiography option is offered through a partnership with CHI St. Vincent Infirmary School of Radiologic Technology. Students will be admitted into the professional core through specific requirements of the admission/selection criteria of the affiliated school.
As part of the School of Math, Science, and Allied Health’s admissions and acceptance process, applicants are required to successfully pass a drug screen prior to entry into the following AHHS programs: Occupational Therapy Assistant, Radiography, Respiratory Therapy, and Licensed Practical Nursing.
In addition, students enrolled in these programs and the Dental Assisting program will be subject to random drug tests during the academic year. Persons testing positive or who refuse testing will be denied entry into the program or dismissed from the program if currently enrolled.
Option: Histotechnology
PLEASE NOTE: Students pursuing this option must have completed the Histotechnology diploma from Baptist Health College Little Rock (49 credit hours) prior to the program’s closure in 2021. Students then complete 19 credit hours of general education at UA - Pulaski Technical College.
Students with a diploma in Histotechnology may reach a median pay of $31,630 year.
