The Construction Technology program provides training in the areas of residential and commercial construction and is designed to develop marketable knowledge, skills, and attitudes in students by providing theory, shadowing, mentoring, and hands-on training in various aspects of the construction industry.

Program Learning Outcomes
1. Interpret construction drawings and specifications.
2. In order to manage and monitor construction projects efficiently and costeffectively, determine personnel, material, and financial resources as well as create and modify as needed, schedules, budgets, and plans.
3. Demonstrate how to employ the various materials, processes, and methods commonly used in modern construction projects.
4. Synthesize and apply building codes, zoning and other laws, and manufacturers’ specifications when planning and building construction projects of all types.
5. Draft a contract for various types of construction that addresses International Building codes, ADA codes, and NFPA codes.
6. Use current surveying technologies to lay out a building site.
7. Using a computer and BIM software, design and create commercial and residential building plans that address building codes, ADA Codes, NFPA codes and International Building Codes, as well as OSHA 10 safety.
8. Discuss in detail using the principles, physical concepts, and properties related to the use of concrete in various types of construction projects.
9. Given construction documents, prepare a bid for a unit using common technology tools, industry standard software applications, architectural scale ruler, basic methods of estimating, and the systems commonly used to complete quantity surveys, building plans, and specifications.
10. Demonstrate and apply knowledge of safety planning and managing safety in construction settings through the use of OSHA 10 processes and principles.
