This course is an examination of basic philosophical topics including the nature of reality and knowledge, human values and critical thinking. Both historical and contemporary readings are included in the course content.

Prerequisite(s): Must meet one of the following requirements:
- A minimum score of 19 on the Reading section of the ACT.
- A minimum score of 78 on the Accuplacer Reading Comprehension Placement test.
- A minimum score of 253 on the Accuplacer Next Gen Reading Placement test.
- Completion of READ 03003 (Foundations of Literacy) with a grade of “C” or better.
