HVAC 12004 - Principles of HVACR II Credit Hours: 4
Using the basics learned in Principles of HVACR I, students will learn to troubleshoot a mechanical refrigeration system using the temperature and pressure relationship. Students will study the electrical systems associated with mechanical refrigeration systems with an emphasis on practical usage of electrical tools and their safety. Accessories involved in the installation of air conditioning and refrigeration systems will be discussed. Students will additionally be prepared to identify and work with various tubing and pipe in the heating, air conditioning and refrigeration field, including PVC with an emphasis on brazing and soldering copper pipe together. This will include the introduction of flow and pressure drops, soldering and brazing of copper tubing. Students will use the knowledge gained during the semester to take the EPA 608 Refrigerant Handling Certification with a “Universal” certification.
